Alan: nope, it's not the right answer :-) I can only let you know that anatomical words generally don't come out of nowhere...

I was wondering what the word pessulus meant and the best I could find was this anatomical defination:

Pes´su`lus
n.	1.	(Anat.) A delicate bar of cartilage connecting the dorsal and ventral extremities of the first pair of bronchial cartilages in the syrinx of birds.

Is that really the answer?

Simon: it's a tool to lockdown GNOME, ie make some settings mandatory, that the user can't change.

Good work.

But pessulus is missing a lockdown relative to Epiphany: /apps/epiphany/lockdown/disable_quit . When checked, Ephiphany would not exit after the last tab has been closed (of the last window of course).

Murray: if you run it as root, then you can set the mandatory settings. If you don't have the rights to edit the mandatory settings (usually, that is when you're not root), you'll only be able to set your personal settings (which is more or less useless since it's not real lockdown...)

If there's interest in this, I'll propose it for inclusion in 2.14.

Thanks

Fantastic news. Is there nothing you can't do?

Does it ask for the root password, or does it need to be started as root?

Seems like a future Desktop new module candidate to me.
